Shortlist for the Krystal Pen spoken word poetry competition released!

We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the maiden edition of Krystal Pen spoken word poetry contest.

As it is our mission and tradition to air every unheard voice, to give a platform to every unprivileged writer, the #15000 prize money should encourage and motivate writers across the continent, who are yet to have the big stage.

Our Judges are Joel Pereyi and Olaleye Doyin Sunshine

The shortlisted spoken word poets are;

Muhammad Bello Mikai’l

Muhammad Bello Mikai’l is a young spoken word poet, He was born at Zuba, Suleja local government of Niger state.

Ibrahim Faddal

Born in Accra, Ghana, 19-year old Faddal Ibrahim is a passionate writer, poet and computer enthusiast. He is a graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, where he studied General Science.

Precious Nzubechukwu Egbo

Precious Nzubechukwu Egbo is a poet from Enugu State, Nigeria. She has written few unpublished poems in the past two years. She’s currently a university student. When she’s not online or sleeping, she loves listening to music. She can be reached on Facebook at Precious Nzubechi Egbo.

Favour Uchechukwu

Favour Uchechukwu (aka Whyte Queen) was born 28 March, 1997 in Lagos State. She is a School Certificate Holder but this has in no way hindered her intellect and pursuit of knowledge. She recently sat for JAMB and hopes to be admitted this year into an enviable university in Nigeria. She started writing two years ago when thoughts of her late mom panged her. She began channelling her pains into her pen and since then has become a passionate poet and prolific writer.
She writes in several media such as Facebook, Poetry Soup, Disqus, Medium, Mirakee, Instagram, etc. She also writes for several publications such as Squintessentials, Little Darlings, etc.
She is presently working to coauthor her first book and also has to her name some unfinished stories she hopes to complete when the time is right.
As a seeker of immense knowledge, she mixes well with like minds, have taken part in several competitions and have earned several nicknames such as Poetry Goddess, Ink Queen, Midnight Scribbler etc from her readers.

She is humble and has a calm disposition.
Her hobbies include quilling, milking the pen, drawing, painting, surfing the internet, operating the computer and telling the truth.

Edward Amonu Andrews

Edward Amonu Andrews Born on 3rd March 1995 and raised in Ghana. He comes from a family of six and the third born of his parents as well.

Edward holds a first degree in Social Science Education with Political Science major.
The 23 year old lad is a passionate and talented Poet as well as an actor. He has directed and acted more than 50 stage-plays and as well written and staged not less than 50 Spoken- word poetry pieces. Currently, He has five official spoken word poetry piece releases as a plus to his brand with his brand name Andword.

Aside his talent,he is also an enterpreneur and a tutor.
And finally, a line about his marriage life, he is single.

Iwuagwu Ikechukwu .O.

Iwuagwu Ikechukwu .O. is a graduate of English and Literary studies from the prestigious Imo State University in Nigeria. He is a lover of creativity and has competed in various writing competitions ranging from Essay, Poetry and Reading competitions.
His first poem collection “Harvest of Aesthetics” recommended for publication by Olympia publishers in London is yet to be published. He is currently working on his second poem collection “Divergent”
